This sausage and broccoli sheet pan supper makes an easy one-pan meal with roasted chicken sausage and broccoli with parmesan and Herbs de Provence.
When it comes to quick and easy meals, sheet pan suppers are one of my favorites. It really can’t get much easier than cutting up your meat and vegetables, putting them on a sheet pan and roasting them for 20-25 minutes. And one dish dinners make for easier clean up too. For this recipe I used Aidells chicken sausage. I used the Bacon, Mushroom and Swiss sausage to be exact, but you can use any sausage your family likes. Chicken sausage comes in such a variety of flavors. I like to keep a couple packages in the freezer for when I need a quick, flavorful meal.
Prep the Sausage and Broccoli
There are only a couple steps to make this easy sheet pan supper. First, slice up your sausage. You can can do bigger pieces, or bite sized pieces. I like the bite sized pieces because there’s more surface area for roasting, and I don’t have to cut it later for the kids. Spread out the sausage on one side of your sheet pan. Then, it’s time for the broccoli. If you have whole head of broccoli, cut them up into florets. Or, save some prep time and buy the pre-cut florets. Put the broccoli florets on the other side of the sheet pan. If you’re serving a large crowd, or your family is really hungry, make up two sheet pans.
Here’s a quick video showing you an easy way to cut florets at home.
Herbs de Provence
I was introduced to Herbs de Provence by a friend when we were living in California. We were having a fun pot-luck style dinner, and she made some sautéed artichoke hearts with Herbs de Provence. I was blown away. Herbs de Provence is a great combination of herbs, often rosemary, thyme, fennel, basil, savory, tarragon, oregano and marjoram. And the special ingredient is lavender. Lavender is a sweet, floral surprise, and usually makes everyone wonder what is that? Herbs de Provence is a fun flavor tool to add to your wheelhouse. You can make it yourself, buy it online, at specialty stores, and sometimes at the grocery store too.
Season and Bake
Finally, finish seasoning the broccoli. Simply drizzle the florets with olive oil and sprinkle with the Herbs de Provence. Toss the broccoli so every piece is evenly coated, and then spread it out on the sheet pan in an even layer. Bake your sheet pan supper at 425° for 15 minutes. Then, pull the pan out of the oven and sprinkle the broccoli with shredded parmesan cheese. Bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted, and then it’s ready to serve.
