Warm, toasted everything bagels. A little crunchy and a little chewy and smothered in chive and onion cream cheese. The savory flavors and tantalizing aromas that cravings are made of. Some foods get locked in your brain as an important part of your memories. For me, everything bagels bring me back to college. Many, many mornings I purchased a fresh everything bagel, sliced and toasted it, and spread on some cream cheese as I headed off to my first class or study session.
Sometimes, I get the urge for a great everything bagel but most of the versions available are way outside my carb comfort zone these days. When I started thinking about making a low carb Keto bagel recipe, the perfect jumping off point was a great low carb dough that I know tastes great. Almond flour and mozzarella based pizza dough is the perfect place to start. Using a donut baking pan helps making homemade bagels even easier. Depending on your pan they will be more mini-bagel sized than the extra large version.
Low Carb Keto Bagel Dough
Start your bagels by incorporating some of those everything bagel flavors right into the dough. First, combine mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, onion powder and garlic powder in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for one minute and stir together. Microwave for an additional minute until the cheese is completely melted. Stir together to make a smooth mixture. Second, add one egg and almond flour to the bowl. Mix the egg and almond flour into the cheese mixture. If it doesn’t completely come together, microwave for one more minute to rewarm the cheese.
After the third time in the microwave, you should be able to easily mix everything together, and it will look like a traditional dough. Finally, knead in 1 tablespoon of baking powder. Turn your dough out onto a piece of parchment paper. Try to form the dough into a rectangular shape and cut into 6 even log-shaped pieces. If they’re not quite even, it’s ok. Adjust as necessary. This dough is much more forgiving than traditional dough and will stay together when it’s baked. Take each piece of dough in turn, roll it out into a rope until it will fill up the cavity of a donut baking pan. If you’re using a metal pan, spray it with non-stick spray first.
Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning
After you have all the bagels formed in your donut pan, it’s time to make the topping. Homemade everything bagel seasoning is really easy to make and so delicious. All you need garlic powder, onion powder, salt, roasted sesame seeds, and poppy seeds. Mix an equal amount together in a small bowl then sprinkle it on top of your bagels.
Bake your low carb everything bagels at 425° for 10 minutes until puffed up and golden. Let the bagels cool for a few minutes before taking them out of the pan. You can enjoy the bagels immediately or cool them and save them for later. They toast up well in a toaster oven too.
Enjoy your everything bagels whole or sliced with cream cheese. They taste great with smoked salmon and cream cheese and as breakfast sandwiches too. You might also like them as an easy low carb sandwich option for lunch.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 2 Tbsp Cream Cheese
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 3/4 Cup Almond Flour
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
Everything Bagel Seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Each: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Kosher Salt, Roasted Sesame Seeds, and Poppy Seeds
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425°. In a microwave safe bowl, add the mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, onion powder and garlic powder. Microwave for 1 minute. Stir the cheeses and microwave for an additional minute.
- Mix the melted cheese together until smooth. Add the almond flour and egg to the bowl. Mix everything together. If the flour won’t mix in all the way, microwave for another minute. Mix again until smooth.
- After the almond flour mixture looks like dough, add the baking powder to the bowl and knead it in. Turn the dough out onto a piece of parchment. Divide the dough into 6 strips. Roll out each dough strip into a long rope. If you’re using a metal pan, spray with non-stick spray. Fill 6 cavities of a doughnut baking pan with a rope of dough.
- Mix together the everything bagel seasoning ingredients in a small bowl. Divide the seasoning evenly over the top of the bagels.
- Bake the bagels for 10 minutes until golden. Enjoy warm or let cool completely.
