This quick and easy homemade hibachi yum yum sauce recipe has only 6 ingredients, and it tastes great on steak, chicken, and all kinds of vegetables.
Have you ever been to a Japanese Steak House? It’s such a fun experience watching the chef making food on the hibachi grill right in front of you. At a great steak house, the chef puts on a good show too, catching eggs in their hat and making onion volcanos. It’s neat how each chef has their own special style. Not only is the show entertaining, the food tastes great too. Everybody loves the white hibachi yum yum sauce. It tastes good on everything. Here’s a quick recipe to make your own at home. I always make it when we have our Fire Table Dinners. It’s also good with homemade sushi and sushi bowls.
Gather Your Ingredients and Whisk
This recipe couldn’t be simpler. First, melt butter in a medium size bowl. Then, add mayonnaise, ketchup, rice vinegar, garlic and season salt to the bowl. Whisk everything together, and you’re done. Store your hibachi yum yum sauce in the refrigerator. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled if you want to have it ready for a quick condiment. It should stay fresh as long as your mayonnaise, if it lasts that long. Also, a side note on rice vinegar, in the store you might find seasoned rice vinegar, which has added salt and sugar. On the other hand, plain rice vinegar is just vinegar without the added sugar and salt. I like to buy plain rice vinegar, so I can season the food as I like, but either will work for this recipe.
Serve Individual Dipping Dishes
When I make yum yum sauce for our fire table dinners, I always serve the sauce in individual dipping bowls. Then everyone can double dip to their heart’s content. I like using silicone cupcake liners. They are perfect for dipping sauces. Curious about a fire table dinner? Check out this post. Basically, it’s our at home version of a Japanese steak house meal, except we cook our food over a grill instead of a hibachi. It’s fun and delicious.
