A fun and easy taco alternative, these Ground Beef Taco Bowls are full of flavor, from the Homemade Taco Seasoning, that your whole family will love.

Ground Beef Taco Bowls have become a favorite at our house. They are a regular part of the rotation when I’m meal planning. My youngest loves them so much, she says she wants them for her birthday meal. I actually started making taco bowls on accident; one evening I made everything for tacos and realized we didn’t have any tortillas in the house. So, Ground Beef Taco Bowls were born.

I actually like taco bowls more than regular tacos because the clean up is easier. I set up a taco bowl bar on my counter with all the taco toppings and mix-ins. Then, everyone makes up their bowl the way they want, and we enjoy a family meal together.

You can purchase a packet or jar of pre-made taco seasoning, but I’ve found I like making my own. This homemade taco seasoning is really easy to put together. I mix all the seasoning ingredients together in a bowl while I’m browning the ground beef. You could also make up a big batch and keep it in a jar for even quicker preparation. If you’re watching your sugar intake, check the ingredients in your season salt. You can always use salt and pepper instead of the season salt.

After the ground beef is all browned, sprinkle your taco seasoning on top and add 1 cup of water. Then, mix everything together and let it simmer until all the water is evaporated or absorbed. Stir the meat occasionally to make sure everything is deliciously seasoned.

Some of my family’s favorite Ground Beef Taco Bowl toppings are sour cream, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and homemade Pico de Gallo. The kids also put a few tortilla chips on top, to make up for those missing tortillas; they think its really fun to be allowed to have chips for dinner. My husband and I skip the chips to keep ours low carb.
