Buffalo Chicken Wings are a classic appetizer, and they make a great meal too. I was introduced to Buffalo Chicken Wings by my husband. When we met, he was into wings of all kinds. The hotter the better. For the classic Buffalo Wing flavor, Frank’s Red Hot is our go-to hot sauce. This Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe puts a new spin on this classic appetizer.

Making this Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe is super simple. First, add canned chicken, mayonnaise, cream cheese, sour cream, and shredded cheese to a bowl. Spice it up with Frank’s Red Hot. 4 tablespoons of hot sauce gives the dip a nice Buffalo flavor without heat. 6 tablespoons of Frank’s gives more of a kick, but it’s not overwhelming. Then, mix all the ingredients together. You can taste the dip at this point and adjust the spice to your taste.

After the spice level in the Buffalo Chicken Dip is adjusted to your taste, pour the mixture into a pie plate or other oven safe dish. Top with more cheese. Finally, bake the dip in the oven at 350º for 15-20 minutes until it is bubbly and the cheese is melted.

  • 2 -12.5 oz Cans Canned Chicken, Drained
  • 4-6 Tbsp Franks Red Hot, or more to taste
  • 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheese, Divided
  • 1 Cup Whipped Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • Optional (for Dipping): Carrot Sticks, Celery Sticks, Almond Flour Crackers


  1. Pre-heat oven to 350º.
  2. In a bowl, combine chicken, Franks Red Hot, mayonnaise, whipped cream cheese, sour cream and 1/2 cup cheese. (4 Tbsp of hot sauce has all the flavor and no heat. 6 Tbsp has a little bit of heat. Adjust to your taste.)
  3. Pour the chicken mixture in a pie plate or oven safe dish, and level it out. Top with 1/2 cup shredded cheese.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and the dip is bubbly. Serve warm with vegetables and crackers for dipping.
